Premise

Most high-performing professionals have contingency plans for every risk that matters — market volatility, succession gaps, reputational exposure, leadership failure. There is one risk that rarely makes the list, and it is responsible for some of the most devastating personal, professional, and financial outcomes in high-performance environments: divorce, family instability, behavioral breakdown, and the slow, quiet erosion of the relationships that make everything else worth having.

About Gus

The advisor who has seen how these stories end.

Gus Dimopoulos has spent decades at the center of high-conflict divorce and family law in New York — advising executives, entrepreneurs, financiers, and ultra-high-net-worth families through some of the most consequential moments of their lives.

What he observed changed how he works. Long before a marriage breaks down publicly, there are patterns — behavioral, emotional, communicative — that quietly set the collapse in motion. Patterns he recognized, case after case.

Today, Gus uses that pattern recognition in a different way: helping high-performing professionals identify and interrupt those dynamics before they become crises.

This is not therapy. It is not corporate HR training. It is direct, confidential, strategic guidance informed by decades of watching personal and professional collapse unfold in real time.

The Problem

The risk that never makes the register.

Every firm keeps a list of the risks it can name. Market exposure, key-man concentration, succession gaps, reputational damage, regulatory scrutiny. Those get hedged, insured, war-gamed, and reviewed on a schedule. One risk almost never appears on the list, and it takes senior people out of their seats with more regularity than most of the items that do. A principal’s marriage comes apart, and the firm is the last to know.

By the time leadership hears about it, the decline is a year old, sometimes three. What the firm has been watching in the meantime, without knowing what it was watching, is a reliable decision-maker who has quietly stopped being reliable. He is in the room and unreachable. He is short with people he used to develop. He makes the call he has always made, a beat late and with less conviction. Nobody connects any of it to his marriage, because nobody knows anything is wrong with his marriage. Then a filing lands, and the firm inherits a crisis it never had the chance to price.

For a high-income professional, marital breakdown does not stay personal. It shows up in the P&L and in the org chart.

What it costs the firm

  • Focus and productivitya distracted principal is expensive in ways no one itemizes
  • Leadership stability and team moralepeople read turbulence at the top long before anyone says it out loud
  • Succession planningyears of grooming can come undone in a season
  • Reputation and firm culturepeers notice well before HR does
  • Financial exposurethe settlement is rarely the largest number
  • Public scrutinynot all of these stay quiet
  • Executive retentiongood people drift out of the orbit of a crisis
Why it goes unaddressed

Private equity professionals, traders, portfolio managers, and senior executives work in environments defined by pressure, volatility, long hours, ego management, wealth events, and constant decision fatigue. Firms already spend real money on leadership coaching, mental performance, executive health, and wellness. Every one of those programs is built around the professional. None of them reaches the thing at home that is pulling the professional off course, and no one in the building feels equipped to raise it.

Executive Advisory Program

Notice regarding the nature of these services.

  1. Who provides these services

The Executive Advisory Program is provided by Dimo Advisory, a New York limited liability company. Dimo Advisory is not a law firm and does not practice law. It is a separate company from Dimopoulos Law Firm, P.C.

  2. These are not legal services

The services offered through this program are not legal services. No attorney-client relationship is created between you and Gus Dimopoulos, between you and Dimo Advisory, or between you and Dimopoulos Law Firm, P.C., by your participation in a workshop, an advisory engagement, or a talk, by your inquiry through this website, or by anything said in the course of any of them. The protections of an attorney-client relationship do not exist with respect to these services.

  3. Gus Dimopoulos is a lawyer, and he is not your lawyer

Gus Dimopoulos is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and practices matrimonial and family law through Dimopoulos Law Firm, P.C. In this program he does not act as your attorney. He will not advise you on your legal rights or obligations, will not tell you what the law provides or how a court would decide anything, will not review or prepare legal documents for you, and will not represent you in any proceeding. If you want legal advice, retain a lawyer of your own choosing.

  4. There is no privilege

Because these are not legal services, what you say in this program is not protected by the attorney-client privilege. It may be subject to disclosure, including in a future court proceeding, and it may be sought from you or from us by subpoena or other legal process. Take that into account before you speak.

  5. This is not therapy or mental health treatment

This program does not provide psychotherapy, counseling, marriage or family therapy, psychological assessment, diagnosis, or treatment of any condition, and it is not a substitute for care from a licensed professional. Gus Dimopoulos is not a licensed mental health practitioner. If you are in crisis or believe you need clinical care, contact a licensed provider or emergency services.

  6. Confidentiality, and its limits

We treat what you tell us as confidential as a matter of contract and of practice. That obligation is not the attorney-client privilege and it is not absolute. We may disclose information where disclosure is required by law or compelled by legal process, where disclosure is necessary to prevent reasonably certain death or substantial bodily harm, or where you direct us to disclose it.

  7. Conflicts

Neither Gus Dimopoulos nor Dimopoulos Law Firm, P.C. will accept any representation adverse to a person who has participated in a confidential one-on-one advisory engagement under this program. That commitment binds the firm, not only Mr. Dimopoulos. Before any advisory engagement begins we run a conflicts check against the firm’s existing and former matters, and we will decline the engagement if it would compromise a client of the firm.

Nothing in this program prevents you from retaining Dimopoulos Law Firm, P.C. in a matter of your own at a later date. Any such representation would be separate from this program and would begin only under a written retainer agreement with the firm.

  8. Engagements paid for by your firm or employer

Where an employer or firm sponsors or pays for an individual advisory engagement, nothing about the content of that engagement is reported to the sponsor. The sponsor is told nothing about what you discuss, what you decide, or whether any concern was raised. This is the position the advisory page currently states, and it is the strongest promise of the three.

Leadership and human resources advisory under this program is a separate service, engaged by the organization. In that service the organization is the party we advise. Where an individual executive is also receiving confidential one-on-one advisory, nothing from those sessions is used in, or disclosed through, the organizational engagement.

  9. No promised result

Nothing in this program is a prediction or a guarantee of any outcome, personal, professional, or financial.

  10. Acceptance

By participating in this program you acknowledge that you have read this notice and that you understand these services are not legal services and that the protection of an attorney-client relationship does not exist with respect to them.
